Customer had forgotten R$ 1.65 million in bank, says BC director

by

While many Brazilians found cents in the Values Receivable System, one person redeemed R$1.65 million forgotten in a financial institution. The value refers to consortium quotas.

According to the Director of Relationship, Citizenship and Conduct Supervision of the Central Bank, Mauricio Moura, this was the highest amount recovered in the first three weeks of operation of the monetary authority’s tool to withdraw money forgotten in banks and financial institutions.

“The vast majority of resources are of very small amounts, after all, few people forget a lot of money in a bank account”, said the director of the BC at the IV Forum of Public Management, promoted by Faciap, in Curitiba (PR).

“This person did not know that he had R$ 1.65 million in his name in the financial system and, thanks to the Values Receivable System, he recovered this money. I imagine he was very happy”, he added.

On Monday (28), the BC started a new payment schedule for the forgotten money. The calendar, which runs until April 16, is valid for people and companies that have not yet withdrawn the remaining balance.

In the recap, the redemption request can be made for a whole day, without time restrictions. The release continues to be made according to the birth date of the individual or the opening date of the legal entity.
