The emergence of the possibilities of enhancing commercial and investment cooperation between Greece and Egypt has been the subject of an event recently held at the BSE offices, co -organized by the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBEA), the Hellenic Company (SEBE).
According to a statement, participants in the event entitled “Discover Egypt” expressed a strong interest in strengthening business partnerships with Egyptian companies, recognizing Egypt’s strategic role in North Africa while in the event, the event was announced by the 20th Business. The speakers of the event emphasized that Egypt is a stable and at the same time rising strategic partner for Greece in the North African region and the Eastern Mediterranean and that commercial and investment relations between the two countries are intense dynamic and steadily increasing.
Particular emphasis was placed on areas of strategic importance, such as energy, infrastructure, shipping, financial services and agri -food.
It is recalled that the total value of Greek exports to Egypt in 2024 amounted to approximately EUR 906 million (compared to EUR 506 million in 2023), recording a spectacular increase in almost 80%, a development attributed mainly to the significant enlargement of fuel, lubricants and related materials. During the same period, Greek imports from Egypt stood at € 1.3 billion (compared to € 1.4 billion in 2023), down by approximately 12%. Overall, bilateral trade exceeded 2 billion euros, up 12% compared to 2023.
Greece ranks fourth among foreign investors in Egypt, with more than 200 Greek companies having an active presence and activity in the country. It is noteworthy that Greek investments almost doubled in the period 2023-2024, reaching € 12.1 million from € 5.8 million last year-a fact that confirms the growing confidence of Greek business circles in the Egyptian investment environment.
