In the face of Sergio Moro’s political moves, leaving Podemos for União Brasil this Thursday (31), representatives of Paraná’s business community still resist the idea of seeing the former judge as a candidate for any position other than the Presidency.
One of the biggest supporters of Moro’s candidacy, Fabio Aguayo, who is director of CNTur (an association of the tourism sector) and still in June 2021 launched a movement in support of the former judge, says that the change of party aims to improve the positioning in the presidential race.
“We, who have been supporters since the beginning, were happy that he had an attitude, because in Podemos he was limited to not having television time, not having funds from the party fund. I think he took an important step”, he says.
For Aguayo Moro, he still has conditions to compete for the vacancy with Lula and Bolsonaro. “He’s going into a debate at the democratic center of choosing the most viable name, whoever is best positioned,” he says.
Federal deputy Alexandre Leite, treasurer of União Brasil in São Paulo, said that Moro will run for a seat in the Chamber for São Paulo.
“He is a statesman, who is above average height. If he thinks it’s not viable [concorrer à Presidência], you can give up. But he believes it will be the consensus name [no União Brasil]because it represents a field that everyone wants, which is to avoid polarization”, affirms Aguayo.
