“Open” jobs in municipalities and regions for the unemployed over 55 years: Those hired will be able to work for 1 year, with the possibility of expanding for another 1 year, while the salary is subsidized up to 750 euros. The program runs from the public employment service and facilitates those who have not completed the time required for Foundation of pension right.

Specifically, as of today Wednesday 6 August at 13:00, Applications of Municipalities and Regions are submitted for 2,500 new positions Work through the employment program of unemployed aged 55 years and over the Public Employment Service (DBA).

Who have a prospect of recruitment in local government

The purpose of the program – according to DBA – is to create overall 35,000 new full -time jobsto get a job unemployed 55 years to 67 years oldas well as unemployed above 67 years of age and up to 74 years old who have not completed the required retirement time for the establishment of a pension right.

Only the Municipalities and Regions/Regional Units that did not apply for an online application to the expansion program of 6,000 posts may apply for the additional 2,500 additional positions, in accordance with Joint Ministerial Decision No. 4461/18-02-2025 (B ‘676).

The procedure for submitting applications

The program is aimed at:

(a) All kinds of legal entities of public law (NPA), the 1st and 2nd grade Local Authorities, the Decentralized Administrations, Decentralized Services and/or Regional Directorates of the Central Administration Bodies,
(b) Businesses, bodies and organizations in the public sector, which regularly engage in economic activity,
(c) Businesses of the Local Government of First and Second and Second Degree (Municipalities and Regions) of Law 3852/2010 (A 87) that regularly engage in economic activity.

Beneficiaries of the action are unemployed, registered in the DIPHA Digital Registry. who have completed digital individual action plan over 55 years.

The duration of the program It is 12 months, with the possibility of expanding for another 12 monthsand the amount of the monthly grant is up to 75% of wage and non -wage costs with a ceiling 750 euros.

The procedure is as follows:

  • Beneficiaries submit an electronic application for participation and a vacancy order and determine the specialty and educational level of the post.
  • The DIP confirms that the beneficiary meets the conditions.
  • The work advisers of the DYPA indicate to the beneficiary, candidates in accordance with the required qualifications of the vacancy.
  • The beneficiary selects among the candidates and hires the unemployed.

After covering the 32,500 seats initially made, the program is expanding to 35,000 seats across the country.

The budget for new jobs is 45m euros, while overall costs on the program are expected to exceed 800 million euros.
