After a good month for consumers, we return to the “factory arrangements”.
October electricity invoices are expected to be “inflated” compared to September.
This is at least the wholesale prices until the 25th of the month.
At the moment the increase in wholesale price is 20%.
The average price of August amounted to 73.15 euros per megawatt, and until September at 88.47 euros.
Things could be even worse, but after the middle of the month prices have balanced near the European average.
By September 15, the increase was 30%.
With the power of renewable energy, prices have declined in recent days, as the sun and winds have helped to increase the production of electricity by the RES.
The role of storage of RES
Energy storage systems also play an important role in reducing electricity prices, as our country produces quantities of electricity from renewable sources, but there are no storage systems.
In practice, this means that the amount produced must be consumed immediately.
With the new investment projects on the run, Greece is expected to start storage systems next year, which is expected to lead to lower power rates in the medium term.
Turn to blue invoices
With electricity prices descending as an elevator, more and more consumers prefer fixed blue tariffs.
In the first five months of 2025, more than 240,000 customers left the fixed blue.
About 439,000 consumers joined the fixed invoices.
Come the red invoices
But there are many consumers who feel confused and do not know which invoice is in their interest.
This category comes to cover the red power invoices in the works.
This enlargement aims to encourage growth and other commercial products with the aim of enhancing competition in the retail energy market as well as the freedom of consumer selection.
Flexible red tariffs are not associated with fluctuations in the wholesale market, but the charge includes one of the pre -defined “flexible element”, which may change, such as consumption.
Flexible invoices can include:
- Scalable pricing per level of consumption, for example a fixed supply charge (Euro/day or Euro/month) and/or a fixed supply price (Euro/kWh) per level
- A fixed fixed supply charge (Euro/day or Euro/month) and/or a fixed procurement price (Euro/kWh), every six months of the annual duration of the procurement contract,
- A fixed supply charge (Euro/day or Euro/month) and/or a fixed supply price (Euro/kWh) per degree
What is happening with the industry
Up to 60% of the cost of businesses is the energy cost of industries, BSE President Spyros Theodoropoulos said recently.
Due to the high cost, Mr Theodoropoulos said that two major companies were considering closing two factories.
BSE proposes the implementation of the Italian invoice model for industry.
Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos was in favor of adopting the Italian model, as BSE wants, the central idea of which is that businesses themselves produce and invest in green stream and borrow with a agreement with the state.
He explained that it was a draft immediate action to make the final decisions by the Prime Minister, announcing that there will be a meeting next week.
