Near last year levels is formed – with today’s international prices – the price of heating oilwhose market will start on October 15th.

The starting price according to the market is estimated at 1.11-1.12 euros per liter against EUR 1.1 in October 2024, but the final size will depend on the course of international prices and euro / dollar exchange rate in the next 15 days, until the start of fuel disposal.

In addition, as of January 1, 2026, according to the announcements made at the TIF, the reduction will apply VAT By 30 % in additional 19 Aegean islands, a development that for heating oil will reduce the price by about 7 minutes per liter.

It is recalled that the reduced VAT rate, 17 %, instead of 24 %, already applies to five Aegean islands (Leros, Lesvos, Kos, Samos, Chios) and from 1-1-2026 expands to the Municipalities of Lipsi, Tinos, Agathonissi, Halkis. Megisti, Kalymnion, Nisyros, Patmos, Symi, Karpathos, Kassos, Astypalaia, Limnos, Ag. Efstratiou, Ikaria, Fourni Korsesi, Oinousses, Psara and Samothraki (along with the adjacent smaller islands). The same will be the benefit for other fuels, as well as for all the products being trafficked and services provided in local markets, provided that the reduction of tax is passed on to final consumer prices.

At the same time, the opening of the AADE platform for the submission of applications for the payment of heating allowance is imminent.

Last year, a total of about 200 million euros were paid to 1.2 million beneficiaries. The allowance concerns all sources of heating (oil, gas, electricity, firewood) for the main residence, is granted by income and property criteria and escalated on the basis of the prevailing weather conditions (higher allowance in the areas where there is larger colds).
