The German leisure airline Condor revealed this Monday (4) its new brand identity. From now on, the company will fly with planes striped in five colors that, according to her, are inspired by umbrellas, bath towels and beach chairs, reflecting the company’s tourist essence in a distinct and unique way.
“Condor has undergone a transformation in the last two and a half years: from a subsidiary of a vertically integrated travel group to an independent airline embarking on the path to the future. We want to express this unequivocally through our corporate identity: Condor is vacation and Condor is unmistakable — like our new design, which we are now launching into the future,” says Ralf Teckentrup, CEO of Condor.
The conception and creation of the new brand identity took place under the direction of Remo Masala. “Revising the identity of the Condor brand with its long tradition is a delicate game based on respect for its origins and requirements for the future. Our objective was to provide Condor with a special visual independence, whose logic is united in the essence of the Condor brand”.
The main colors of the corporate identity are yellow and blue, complemented by the color gray. The airline’s symbol, the condor bird in a circle, dates back to one of Germany’s most influential designers, Otl Aicher. She received a “facelift”, with thinner and more dynamic lines. The letters have also been adapted: they are now more compact. The logo appears in high-contrast black on the aircraft’s fuselage.
Initially, Condor’s aircraft will feature five colors in a striped look: yellow, red, blue, green and beige, which represent the diversity of travelers, Condor employees and opportunities to travel the world, the company said.
Crew uniforms, accessories such as scarves, ties and brooches will also have the new design, which will also arrive on board, at airports, on the website and on social media in the coming weeks and months. Many in-flight items will be replaced, such as cups, blankets and silverware, as well as all ground materials such as boarding passes, ID cards and airport signage. The replacement will be performed successively, with nothing of the old design being discarded, but everything being used.
About 80% of the fleet is due to be repainted by 2024.
The new design was unveiled in Toulouse with the first A330neo, which will take off for Condor next month. The first aircraft will take off with green stripes. As of this Tuesday (5th) the first Condor aircraft with the new look will be on route: the Airbus A321 with the registration D-AIAD, with yellow stripes.
In the coming weeks, five more Boeing 757 and Airbus A320 aircraft will be repainted, so six aircraft will fly with the new design in the summer. They will fly mainly to Majorca, Greece, the Canary Islands and Egypt.
