Hydrocarbons: Which areas will be surveyed – Which companies will be active

In five marine and a land previously allocated for hydrocarbon exploration, processes for the exploration of deposits today’s meeting under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis held at the Hellenic Hydrocarbon Management Company.

These are the areas northwest of Corfu, Ionian, Kyparissia gulf, sea areas West and Southwest of Crete, as well as Ioannina.

In its areas Of Crete the research consortium consists of the companies Total, ExxonMobil and Hellenic Petroleum, while in Corfu The Energean – ELPE consortium is active in Ionian and the Cypress the ELPE and in Janina Energean.

The other land areas in Western Greece that had been granted for research (Etoloakarnania, Arta – Preveza and NW Peloponnese) were returned to the Greek State, while the same direction is oriented for the sea area of ​​the western Gulf of Patras, where the indications from that lead to the conclusion about existence of oil and not gas.

In the Ionian and Gulf region of Kyparissia, the ELPE recently completed two-dimensional seismic surveys and now follows the interpretation of the data in order to determine the points where three-dimensional surveys will be carried out for greater clarity.

In the sea areas of Crete there is a court case pending appeals, while in Ioannina Energean plans to drill.
