Cuba releases cryptocurrencies with BC authorization

Cuba’s central bank issued regulations on Tuesday for service providers related to virtual assets, after giving favorable signals last year to the personal use of cryptocurrencies, in a decision that some experts said could help the island. Caribbean to circumvent the harsh sanctions imposed by the United States.

The central bank’s authorization, published on Tuesday in the government’s official journal, requires that anyone intending to use cryptocurrencies must obtain a license.

The central bank said it will consider the legality, socio-economic interest and design features of any application before granting a license, which will initially be valid for one year.
