President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said this Friday (29) that the proposal to readjust the salary of federal servants by 5% “displeases everyone”.
He returned to try to get away from criticism of categories that charge higher raises. He also asked for understanding and suggestions from the population.
“I put the problem on the table. Come on, I’m now waiting for your suggestions”, said the president in an interview with the radio station Metrópole FM, in Cuiabá (MT)
“It seems to displease everyone [conceder o reajuste de 5%]. Some talk, so it gives zero. You can’t do that, there are a lot of people who, if it’s in this line, 5% interests them. In the last two months, inflation has passed 3%, the business is taking a heavy toll on everyone,” Bolsonaro said.
The president stated that he is studying equalizing the career ceiling of federal highway police officers and federal police officers.
“How will the Federal Police behave? Will they say they are against it? Go on strike? I ask everyone who is listening to me: put yourself in my place, present alternatives”, said the president.
“I want to help all servers in Brazil, I’ve always defended the readjustment. But there’s no way to give more than we have at the moment [5%]costs R$ 7 billion”, he declared.
as anticipated the SheetBolsonaro decided, in a meeting on April 13, to grant a 5% readjustment to all federal public servants from July 1, even without enough space in the Budget.
The 2022 Budget has only reserved the amount of R$ 1.7 billion for readjustments or restructuring of civil servants’ careers this year. Bolsonaro’s idea was only to privilege agents of the PF, PRF and Depen ((National Penitentiary Department).
“The study quickly leaked and other categories, which are important, started threatening the government, ‘let’s stop Brazil,'” Bolsonaro said.
The total cost of the 5% linear adjustment is estimated at R$7.9 billion in 2022, which will force budget cuts in other areas.
“I am not the owner of the bic pen to solve this problem,” Bolsonaro said in another part of the interview.
The president acknowledged that the increase aimed at police officers could be questioned and overturned in court, “given that I am privileging categories that are sympathetic to me.”
