The government is considering a new package of interventions targeting specific social and professional groups, which are disproportionately affected by the energy crisis.
The plan is part of the central national intervention to restore energy bills close to pre-crisis levels and according to SKAI information 1 billion has already been secured from the state budget, by the end of the year, an amount to which is expected to be added 1.5 billion from the Energy Transition Fund.
The intervention will be valid for at least six months, while the extension of the measures to a horizon of twelve months is being considered, with the bill in this case rising to 5 billion.
It is recalled that earlier the government spokesman Giannis Oikonomou, speaking to SKAI and Giorgos Avtias, stated that “any super profits that have arisen, which have been identified by RAE, will be returned to the world”.
As he explained, with all the fiscal space created and whatever the possibility is, it will become second government intervention from which the price of electricity will fall sharply for all of us.
“We will never see an account that will be 4 or 5 times higher,” he pointed out.
Regarding the power outages, “we have done and continue to do everything in our power so that people do not run out of electricity”, Mr. Oikonomou assured, saying that “no bill is cut if you leave it unpaid once”.
He also clarified that energy support measures will be horizontal and long-term. “Based on the performance of the economy, we will make a decisive intervention,” he said, adding that prices will be closer to the data we had before.
He stressed that the support measures will apply in May, while the prime minister will announce soon a very substantial intervention that will result in a drastic reduction in energy prices.
“In the immediate future, companies will also see a substantial increase in electricity,” he said.
Finally, referring to the fuel subsidy, he said that more than 1 million citizens entered the platform to apply.
