Half a cow is sold for BRL 3.99 million at auction in Uberaba in record year

The country’s main livestock event, Expozebu, in Uberaba, historically sells animals for prices that exceed R$ 1 million, but in 2022 an auction sold half a Nelore cow for R$ 3.99 million, a world record for the breed. .

In addition to it, however, two other animals were sold for millionaire prices, which already makes the ABCZ (Brazilian Association of Zebu Breeders), organizer of the event, project the biggest financial movement in history this year, when the fair resumes on-site activities. after two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The average price of animals sold since last week in 15 auctions was R$70,260, 85.5% above the R$37,850 of last year. Although Expozebu was not held in 2020 and 2021, the auctions took place virtually. There are still 18 events of the genre in the city of Minas Gerais.

The female Viatina-19, from Casa Branca Agropastoril and Nellore Mara Móveis, had half of her property sold for R$3.99 million at the Elo de Raça auction, which means that its full value reaches R$7.98 million. . The buyer was Agropecuária Napemo, from Uberaba.

Viatina-19 was born on January 17, 2019, is 39 months old and is the daughter of Landau da Di Gênio, who in 2018 had 50% of her rights sold for R$1.26 million. Also Landau’s daughter, Sophie Ourofino was sold for R$ 1.59 million in a virtual auction in 2021.

Animals like Viatina-19, great champion at Expoinel Minas from 2020 to 2022 and competing for the title at Expozebu, are extremely valued in the market for having genetic consistency, consecrated pedigree and productive characteristics that will be reflected in the field, according to veterinarian Heitor Lutti Pinheiro Machado, livestock advisor at the White House Agropastoril.

“[Os leilões] They are like the F1 of cattle. This here is as if it were the maximum of efficiency, until it reaches the ox that we eat every day. The animal has to be efficient, gain a lot of weight, have a beautiful carcass conformation, with a strong long back and back covered with meat, which is where the noble meats are, “he said.

In addition to her, other animals had millionaire appreciation in the city of Triângulo Mineiro this year. The Egyptian cow Fiv Machadinho had two thirds of it sold for R$ 1.75 million. The female Truffle 1 Fiv from SJ reached R$900,000 for 50% ownership of her.

The objective of the improvement is for the animal to transfer the genetics to its descendants and for them to produce more meat in less time and less space, which means greater profitability for ranchers.

ABCZ president, Rivaldo Machado Borges Júnior said the auctions have been going well because the market is very heated.

“It’s being the record of records. We expected a good performance because the market is very strong, protein is valued and so is the exposure. The public was longing to participate. The producer is seeing in person, what helps to evaluate, helps in everything”, he said.

According to him, the comparison with 2019, the last in-person edition, makes sales now more than 200% higher, but the last two years, with virtual events, were very important for the association and livestock.

“We had a historic growth in ABCZ in these two years. We managed to bring to the entity more than 1,500 new partners.” The entity has about 25,000 associated ranchers.

Among the auctions that will still be held is the Night of Champions, this Tuesday (3), which traditionally has a high average value.

In the 15 auctions already held, the total amount collected was R$ 39.27 million. At the same time last year, the auctions had raised BRL 19 million — this year, however, there were more auctions in the period.

In 2021, R$ 67.53 million were raised, including animal malls, whose values are only incorporated into the billing at the end of the livestock fair.

CARE

The sale of Viatina-19 only took place after much dispute at the Elo de Raça auction. When the global price of the animal reached R$ 6 million, there were still seven possible bidders in the dispute.

Animals like her are usually in more widely spaced paddocks on farms, not randomly released into the pasture.

“But we have to leave them in the most natural environment possible, which is where they do well,” said the vet.

They usually walk and bathe daily, in addition to receiving a series of care so that they appear more beautiful on the day of the track.

“This female will produce N embryos and the buyer will sell them. She pays herself quickly, nobody invests just for the sake of investing. The importance of ABCZ is genetic improvement. The animal is valued for having a very good carcass finish, for very advanced technology. “, said the president of ABCZ.

Expozebu projects R$ 300 million in business until next Saturday (8), including cattle auctions and shopping malls.
