by

As part of the first working day of the G20, the Italian Presidency announced that an agreement had been reached on the minimum international taxation.

Within 2023, multinationals will pay a minimum tax of 15% on their profits and will pay the amount to those countries where they sell their products or services.

As previously announced, the support of US President Joe Biden proved to be crucial for the approval of the tax. US President Joe Biden said that “the international community, thanks to the agreement on the minimum international taxation, will support people by ensuring that businesses contribute as much as they can.”

The Draghi government has expressed its satisfaction with the adoption of the measure during the Italian presidency of the G20, which had organized a series of preparatory meetings of the relevant ministers.

It is estimated that more than 150 billion euros a year could be paid into the coffers of the various countries, which until now were “saved” by the multinationals.

On the contrary, in terms of climate, according to the Italian press, the positions of the various countries participating in the G20, continue to be significantly different.

The Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, spoke at length about the importance of this initiative.
