The Metropolitan Transport Department once again fined ViaMobilidade, concessionaire of the 8-Diamante and 9-Esmeralda train lines, in São Paulo, with R$ 3.6 million for failures such as opening doors on the opposite side of the platform, disrespecting the signs of road and contractual issues.

In March, the company had already been fined another R$ 4.3 million after the initiation of an administrative proceeding for failing to comply with operational procedures and interrupting the provision of the service.

According to the secretary, the concessionaire presented a defense, which is being analyzed.

The total penalties for non-compliance with the contract reached R$ 7.9 million.

“STM is responsible for monitoring and following up all concessions made by the ministry. The work is carried out by the Commission for Monitoring Concessions and Permissions, which demands quality in the services provided in accordance with current contracts”, says the agency in a note. .

ViaMobilidade took over the 9-Emerald and 8-Diamond lines on January 27. Since the beginning of the concession, the lines have had a series of failures, with interruptions in the circulation of trains and even the shock of one of the compositions with a containment barrier at the Júlio Prestes station (central region).
