Bolsonaro says he hopes to be able to change Petrobras after changing ministry

by

President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said on Friday night (13), that he hopes to be able to move Petrobras after the replacement of the Minister of Mines and Energy, made by him this week.

“I hope, in the next few days, with the changes I made in the Ministry of Mines and Energy, that we will be able to move Petrobras, make it comply with the constitutional provision, which speaks of the social purpose of the company”.

Bolsonaro spoke about the topic during a meeting with shopkeepers at the Campos do Jordão Convention Center, in Campos do Jordão, in the interior of São Paulo.

The rise in fuel prices is one of the factors that most puts pressure on inflation, in the double digits in the 12-month period. The problem worries Bolsonaro, who is seeking re-election this year. A Datafolha survey showed that most Brazilians blame the president for the soaring prices.

The president also returned to criticize Petrobras’ profit. Last week, he had already called the company’s result “rape” in his weekly live.

“We cannot have a company that has a profit above 30%, while the largest oil companies in the world have a maximum profit of 15%. And these other oil companies have given up profits to help their countries. can continue to be indifferent to all this,” he said on Friday.

The president also claimed to have made an appeal to Petrobras not to readjust the price of fuel, which would not have been taken into account.

“Two Thursdays ago I made a dramatic appeal to some, it even seemed like something not compatible with a president, but my way of being, speaking with an open heart, and always speaking the truth, was not successful at Petrobras.”

“I appealed, don’t raise the price of fuel, I even said a bad word in a live, which is not very common on my part, but I was forced to do that. We were unsuccessful. We made changes, I hope these changes are successful for the good of us all”.
