The IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) released this Friday (20) the list of successful candidates for the 2022 Demographic Census. FGV (Fundação Getulio Vargas), which organizes the selection.
Now, those approved will be called by the institute for a training phase, which will take place between the 18th and 22nd of July for the census takers, who work directly in the collection of information, and from the 6th to the 15th of June for the census agents, who manage the posts and guide census takers. The other candidates will be kept on a waiting list and can be called later.
This year, more than 621 thousand people applied for the 206,891 temporary vacancies in the Census, being 23,870 for census agents and 183,021 for census takers. The vacancies are distributed in 5,297 municipalities in the country.
The Census will be carried out as of August 1st, with an estimate of visiting 215 million inhabitants in more than 70 million households in the country, in all 5,570 municipalities.
Vacancy characteristics
For census takers, the estimated duration of contracts is up to three months, with the possibility of extension. For census agents, the deadline is five months, and there is also a chance of extension.
Census takers need complete elementary education and will work directly in collecting Census information in more than 70 million households throughout Brazil, says the IBGE.
The salaries of the census takers will vary, according to the production (the more interviews you do, the more you earn). It is possible to simulate remuneration on the 2022 Census website. The weekly workload is indicated as 25 working hours.
Census agent vacancies require high school education and are divided between ACM (municipal census agent) and ACS (supervisor census agent). Salaries are BRL 2,100 and BRL 1,700, respectively.
With higher remuneration, the ACM manages the work of the Census information collection stations. Meanwhile, the ACS, subordinate to the ACM, has as its main function to guide the census takers during the execution of field activities.
As the census agent vacancies had a single application, the ACM positions will be offered to the candidates with the best classification in the contest. The others approved will be entitled to the positions of ACS, following the order of performance in the selection.
