Ecorodovias presents the only offer and wins the Rio-Valadares system auction alone

by

Ecorodovias was the only company to present an offer for the Rio–Governador Valadares Highway System (RJ-MG), a set of approximately 730 kilometers of roads that is the only route available from the state capital to bypass the Guanabara Bay, allowing access to the North and Northeast regions of the country, informed the Ministry of Infrastructure.

This Friday’s auction (20) marked yet another concession promoted by the federal government to be won by a group that is already present in the country and was the first under the management of the new Minister of Infrastructure, Marcelo Sampaio, who took over from Tarcísio de Freitas about a month and a half ago.

The contract lasts for 30 years and Ecorodovias bid at a 3.11% discount on the basic toll rate.

With the victory, Ecorodovias will manage 4,500 kilometers of roads in the country, something that, according to the company’s executive president, Marcello Guidotti, makes the company the largest highway operator in Brazil.

“We are looking for new opportunities,” said the executive after the auction.

The investments foreseen in the project include R$ 11.3 billion over the 30 years of the concession. The funds will be invested in obligations that include 303 kilometers of duplication works, 255 kilometers of additional lanes and 1,630 kilometers of bicycle lanes, according to ANTT (Agência Nacional de Transportes Terrestres). Operating expenses total R$9.8 billion.
