Justice condemns MC Gui to pay R$ 12 thousand for moral damages to app driver

Singer-songwriter Guilherme Kaue Castanheira Alves, better known as MC Gui, 24, was sentenced by the São Paulo Court to pay R$ 12,000 as an indemnity fine to an app driver, who is filing a lawsuit for moral damages against the musician.

Alef Santos, the driver, initially asked for compensation in the amount of R$500,000. He was publicly accused, in 2020, of having stolen the singer’s bags that contained objects for donation and were transported in his car, through a ride with the Uber app.

The judge in the case, Luciana Antoni Pagano, understood that the content of the singer’s publications really harmed Santos, directly offending the professional’s honor and personality. The action was judged as partially valid, condemning the singer to pay R$12 thousand as moral damages.

MC Gui even claimed that he exposed the driver on social media in order to retrieve the bags, as he would not have been able to deliver to the singer, and did not leave the musician’s belongings at a police station or Uber headquarters, just having disappeared. with the objects. “The offensive content is evident, as is the moral damage resulting from the offense to the applicant’s honor and personality,” added Pagano.
