The 18th International Festival of Digital Arts of Greece begins

The International Festival of Digital Arts of Greece, Athens Digital Arts Festival (ADAF) grows up and returns for its 18th annual event in the center of Athens, and specifically in Kotzia squarefor a five-day meeting to be held by 25 to 29 May 2022, in the former notoshome building complex. This year ‘s event explores the theme of “FutuRetro” and invites us to see the present through the eyes of the past, and the past through the eyes of the future.

The multi-collection program of the festival consists of more than 600 FutuRetro works that will fall into its already familiar categories: video art, interactive and audiovisual installation, live performance, animation, virtual, augmented and mixed reality (VR / AR / XR) works, games , digital image, web art, creative workshops, speeches and the ADAF KIDS children’s program, for the always anxious children.

Of course, one of the most favorite categories of the festival could not be missing, ADAF MUSIC, which this year will be extended to the urban web and specifically to the ADAF Stage, the stage that will be set up in Kotzia Square especially to host unique performances, music and not, in combination with Projection Mapping Show on the Athens City Hall.

At the same time, as every year, ADAF cultivates bridges of communication and exchange of ideas and works with other festivals from Greece and around the world, researching and presenting global trends in digital arts.

See the highlights of this year’s event:

-What’s Up Music Doubles within the ADAF Music program, the daily musical performances on the ADAF stage in Kotzia Square (20.00 – 23.00). Participants: Lena Platonos with Die Arkitekt, Marina Satti with Jeph Vanger, Kaiti Garbi with Someone who is not me, Nikos Touliatos with Stelios Giannoulakis, Katia Paschou with DJ Rico, IOTA PHI with VASSIŁINA and many other musicians. What’s Up Music Doubles brings to the stage unexpected and unique collaborations between musicians from different musical genres and time periods, creating a multidimensional alloy of contemporary Greek music references.

-The concert of good job nicky at ADAF Stage. A What’s Up Music Doubles – Special Edition, where the internationally recognized artist will frame his live appearance with the impressive digital visual show of the visual artist Misogi (Friday 27/5, 23:00).

-The Projection Mapping Show at the City Hall of Athens, during the ADAF Stage concerts.

-The impressive outdoor installation Museum of the Moon, by the British artist Luke Jerram. The moon lands for the first time in Athens. With a diameter of 7 meters, the project consists of photographs at 120 dpi from the surface of the moon as taken by NASA.

-The Wave installation of the Squidsoup team in Kotzia Square, a light experiment in the form of a dynamic wave sculpture.

-SUPERSELFIE, an interactive installation of the Chilean Felipe Prado in the windows of notos in Aeolus, where we will see how a “social network offline” is created for a minute.

– Lumen II, of the Polish IP Group, an enjoyable immersive experience in the basement of the former notoshome, which defies the concept of space and plays with illusions.

The all-day Cinemateque, where works of video art and animation will be screened in the specially designed screening space, with thematic collections of works, tributes and collaborations.

-ADAF workshops: Learn all about NFT artwork from experts and how to make your own! Take part in the music Open Lab for the abbreviation of drama with technology. See the Classic (and) hip hop workshop: element of an innovative creation with sampling techniques by DJ Rico and Katia Pashou.

– The impressive innovative and interactive facilities of the central exhibition, among them stand out: «Distributive intelligence | A group mind “, by Lukas Truninger, a dance floor for robots. “INTERPOLATE” by Angelina Papachatzaki, an impressive wearable that kinesthetically reproduces the movements of a dancer through pneumatics technology. “Do you Feel Connected?” a unique installation of infuture.institute inspired by internet culture and how social networks affect our lives. “Orbis Tertius” is a facility for mapping the planet Mars, and the big data that travels from its surface to the generic illustrator on display.

-The awarding of the ADAF Awards on Sunday, May 29 at 21:00.
