As the much advertised Johnny Depp v. Amber Heard trial continues in court, Depp’s film “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” garnered a large number of screenings – pushing the film in the top 10 of Netflix.
The 2005 film – directed by Tim Burton – was at number eight in the top ten of the streaming platform from Tuesday, reported Entertainment Weekly.
Based on Ronald Dahl’s 1964 book of the same name, Depp stars as the eccentric chocolate maker Willie Wonka, who allows five children to tour his factory.
The film grossed over $ 475 million worldwide and received generally positive reviews. Also starring Freddie Highmore, Helena Bonham Carter and Christopher Lee.
It is recalled that Depp is suing his ex-wife, Amber Heard, for 50 million dollars due to an article published in 2018 in the Washington Post, where he fell victim to abuse, but did not name him. Herd has also filed a counterclaim alleging that Depp’s legal team discredited her.
