National Library: Routes … of reading and creativity

by

THE Summer Reading and Creativity Campaign of the National Library of Greece returns. From Wednesday 29 June until Sunday 4 September the libraries of the Hellenic Libraries Network they will open their doors again to welcome their young and old friends, to read old and new stories, to be inspired, to explore, to play with nature, and through original actions to discover new reading paths.

With a central slogan “Reading paths … listen, see, learn, laugh!”, the Summer Campaign for Reading and Creativity returns with ideas and themes that will bring us closer to our favorite places, people, books and our personal reference points. The main goal of this year JV is to turn local libraries into cells of creativity by utilizing readers of all ages and the natural environment around them.

The main starting point for the workshops to be implemented is “The High Mountains” by Zacharias Papantoniou, a landmark text in Greek literature and pedagogy, always up to date and “alive”. The activities are linked to a chapter / excerpt which acts as a bridge to newer / contemporary literature, while the activities relate to games that will be implemented in the library or its surroundings, based on four axes: nature, water, sky and the human. Each workshop will be a new route for the children who will participate. This is how literary journeys, poetic journeys, musical journeys, local journeys, etc. are formed.

Throughout the summer, libraries coordinate their activities, while young and old share their reading experiences on social networks using the hashtag # ΚΕ2022gr.

The Summer Campaign for Reading and Creativity 2022 is organized by the National Library of Greece and is implemented thanks to the good cooperation of EBE and the Laboratory of Pedagogical Applications and Production of Educational Material, of the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education of EKPA. The director is Professor Konstantinos D. Malafantis.
