Trio arrested for stealing from Carlinhos Maia learned about goods on social media

The three suspects in the robbery of the apartment of comedian and influencer Carlinhos Maia, 30, learned of the assets he had in the property and the absence of the owners on the night of the crime on social media. The information is from the Civil Police of Alagoas, who arrested the three on Monday night (6), in Campina Grande, Paraíba.

The trio is not related, but the three would have been accomplices in this type of crime for years, according to the investigation, which is still ongoing, as the police said in a conversation with the press in the early afternoon of this Tuesday (7). ). The three suspects have already been transferred to Maceió, where the crime took place.

According to the general delegate of the Civil Police of Alagoas, Gustavo Xavier, the identification was possible due to the connection of the suspects with a car seized in the operation and that would have been used in the theft and was located in a dismantling area. Police learned equipment used in the crime, such as tools, cell phones and a retractable ladder. The stolen items, which total R$5 million, have not yet been recovered.

“The vehicle left the city of Campina Grande on Saturday night (28) and came to Maceió for the crime to be carried out. It does not stop at any time, to make it difficult for the police to catch it. It only stops for two minutes, when it leaves the close to the hotel, to search for the suspects. The three arrested people had direct contact with the vehicle. One of them was even driving it”, said the delegate, confirming that a pair of gloves and a flashlight were also found inside the car.

The police also believe that the crime was initiated in a clumsy way, as an alarm was triggered. Also, the apartment’s front door was breached by an object that could be a crowbar. Then, at another door, there was a more gross break, “like a foot in the door”, in the words of the sheriff. Police did not confirm the participation of a doorman, for example, as there may have been human error, and said the group was not organized as the investigation suspected.

Police did not release the names of the detained suspects, but said they deny any involvement in the crime. “They deny the criminal practice, we respect the testimonies, but we have enough elements for these arrests to be decreed by the Judiciary. We know that they are involved, but we are going to analyze what kind of conduct they had. We are still going to investigate other participations. that is close to Carlinhos, employee involvement, etc”, added Xavier.

Deputy Lucimério Campos, who is responsible for the investigation, said that one of the alleged robbers has a history with the police for breaking into a house. “One had a police record for breaking into a house in Campina Grande. Two people were also arrested for breaking into a house in 2019, and took high-value belongings. city, even used these paraphernalia that were collected”, he explained.
