“Culture in the Neighborhoods” makes a 2nd stop in Pagrati – See the program

The Scout squares, Barnabas, Messolonghi are entering a summer rhythm, with music, choirs, events, digital screenings.

THE Municipality of Athens via Athens Culture Net organizes and implements cultural activities with free admission, in the neighborhoods of Athens! After Kypseli, from the 14th to the 30th of June, 14 new actions come in a favorite area of ​​Athens, in Pagrati.

The National Theater and the Friendship Clubs of the Municipality of Athens, the Intercultural Choir of ELS but also El Sistema, the Byzantine and Christian Museum and the Museum of Heraklion, the Athens Conservatory, the Vassilis and Elizas Goulandris Foundation, the 4th Primary School and Cervantes, the Hellenic Children’s Museum, the Michalis Kakogiannis Foundation, the Athens Digital Arts Festival, the TAKIS Foundation but also the Plenty Gardens and the Balkans Beyond Borders network and collaborate bringing to Pagrati original cultural activities and workshops.

European Music Day is celebrated with a tribute to the internationally renowned Greek musician, Iannis Xenakis, who this year marks 100 years since his birth. While the fans of Lilliput and the only Manos Hatzidaki make an appointment – where else? – at the composer’s favorite hangout, in Scout Square, in an event with a lot of music and unique stories, which will be honored by the musicians George Kouroupos and Nikos Kypourgos.

THE Mayor of Athens Costas Bakogiannis on the occasion of the start of the events he stated: “We bring culture to the neighborhoods! Everyday, but also with initiatives like this. We support the neighborhood, the living cell of our city. We highlight its unique history, its multiculturalism, its dynamics in the present. “Tribute to Iannis Xenakis” – For the 100 years since the birth of the great, international Greek composer. A collaboration of the Athens Conservatory with the Byzantine & Christian Museum.
An old student of Iannis Xenakis in Paris, the composer and musicologist Haris Xanthoudakis will talk about the revolution brought by the internationally renowned composer in the field of music. These narratives, the choreographer Lila Zafeiropoulou, will transform into choreography and dance steps. The Higher Vocational School of the Athens Conservatory participates.
