A month ago, Portuguese actress Maria Vieira had been announcing to her followers her return to Brazilian television on social networks. She had already arranged a work visa in Brazil, when, according to her, she was taken by surprise with the information from director Mauro Mendonça Filho that he was no longer part of the cast of “Travessia”, by Glória Perez.
Maria decided to vent on Facebook about her departure from the beginning of the recordings of Globo’s next prime-time soap opera. She suspects that the dismissal of the production happened because she was a right-wing activist and supporter of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
“Once again, I am the target of persecution, discrimination and cancellation by the system that regulates and dominates the contracts carried out on television and in the artistic world”, began Maria, who had already worked at the house in three productions “Negócio da China” (2008), “Seven Lives” (2009) and “That Kiss” (2013).
“I am a conservative, right-wing actress and I am a supporter of President Jair Bolsonaro. I believe that these would have been the reasons why I was removed from the cast of what would be my fourth soap opera on TV Globo!”, observed Maria. She also made sure that “someone worked behind the scenes” to get her away from the production.
“I did not hesitate to make this case public because it is essential that the public knows what is happening in the artistic world, whether in Portugal or Brazil. I want people to become aware of the injustices that are committed in the name of socialism and political correctness”, noted Maria Vieira, who is a deputy for the far-right party in Portugal, Chega.
The actress ended the rant saying that she saved all the contacts made with the producers of “Travessia” and with the director Mauro Mendonça Filho to prove the veracity of the “regrettable episode”. “Although I feel wronged, I’m not depressed. Thank God I live as I want, I only do what gives me pleasure and I don’t owe anyone anything”, she concluded.
