Nursing Council will investigate Klara Castanho’s complaint about leak

Coren-SP (Regional Nursing Council of São Paulo) said in a note published on its website this Sunday (26) that it will investigate the possible ethical violation committed by a nursing professional who would have leaked information regarding actress Klara Castanho, 21 .

Klara revealed this Saturday (25) that she was the victim of a rape and kept the pregnancy, giving the child up for adoption after birth. The actress reported that, still under the effect of the birth anesthesia, a nurse threatened her with the leak of her situation.

“On the day the child was born, I, still anesthetized from postpartum, was approached by a nurse who was in the operating room. She asked questions and threatened: ‘Imagine if such a columnist discovers this story’. a hospital, a place that was supposed to welcome and protect me,” Klara wrote on her Instagram.

“Coren-SP, as well as Brazilian society, became aware this weekend of the situation exposed by the actress, who mentions, in an open letter, having been the target of a threat from a nurse and the following confirmation by a press columnist about of information about the delivery for adoption of a baby resulting from a rape.

It is incumbent upon Coren-SP to investigate situations in which there is an ethical violation committed by a nursing professional and to adopt the measures provided for in the Code of Ethical Process of Nursing Councils (Cofen Resolution No. 370/2010).

In this sense, the council will follow the rites and adopt the necessary procedures for the due investigation, as in all complaints about professional practice. Thus, Coren-SP emphasizes the necessary caution to take the correct measures to investigate the facts.

The council expresses its solidarity with the actress and reaffirms its daily commitment to the professional ethics of nursing and to the safety of care provided by the category. As soon as it has the necessary information for the investigation, Coren-SP reinforces that all investigation procedures will be properly carried out.”
