New open theater in honor of the great actress Irene Pappa opens on July 19 in Chiliomodi, Corinthia
Irini Pappa, her real name is Irini Lelekou, was born in Chiliomodi in Corinth to a family of teachers and began her artistic career at the age of 15 as a radio producer, singer and dancer at various events. He attended acting classes at the Dramatic School of the National Theater with great teachers.
In 1948 she plays in her first film entitled Lost Angels. Three years later, Frixos Iliadis returns to the Dead State with her. The film participates in the Cannes Film Festival and there, with the first screening, the world finds a protagonist who seems to have come from the archaic Panathenaic procession.
In 1952, Cannes deals only with Papa and world cinema falls in love with the wild man from Chiliomodi.
It participates like this in at least 100 international productions, number of films – a record for Greek actress, while three of the films in which he stars are nominated for the Foreign Language Film Oscar, with the French-language Z by Costa Gavras winning it, while two Greek films, adaptations of ancient tragedies on the big screen, Elektra and Iphigenia, were also nominated. He participates in many Hollywood productions, while also starring on Broadway.

At the same time, given the historical ties between the Municipality of Corinthia and Syracuse, the “Irini Pappa” open theater will be a crossroads of meeting between the two areas, as contacts and meetings have been taking place for a long time, while on-site autopsies have also been carried out in the theater by representatives of the of Syracuse, in order to discuss the planning of the Municipal Authority, which concerns the theater and includes Syracuse.
The opening of the new open theater “Irini Pappa” in Chiliomodi, as part of the summer events of the Municipality of Corinthia, will be an important cultural event as well as an important honor for our great actress from her hometown.
