Unlike the 2010 film Social Network, the BBC claims it will be a “definitive account” of Zuckerberg and his rise in the tech industry.

Its 20th anniversary Facebook approaching 2024 and preparing for the 20th anniversary of one of the most important technological events in the world, the BBC now designing series documentary which follows the founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and the creation of the giant social networking platform.

Unlike the 2010 film Social Network, the BBC claims it will be a “definitive account” of Zuckerberg and his rise in the tech industry, offering a more accurate account of events in a three-part journalistic documentary.

The UK broadcaster says it will feature “key actors, insider testimonies, personal diaries and rare archival footage”. TV production company Mindhouse will take on the project.

“The remarkable story of Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook is one of the events of our time,” said Mindhouse chief creative officer Nancy Strang. “He has arguably done more to transform human behavior and connectivity than any other person this century. I’m thrilled that we’ve been given this opportunity to tell the amazing inside story of the social media giant and the man behind it.”

No premiere date has yet been announced for the documentaries, but it will be available on BBC Two and the BBC iPlayer app when it launches in 2024.
