Singer Noel Gallagher, 55, was embarrassed to be serenaded by fans of a hit by Oasis, Britpop’s biggest band in the 90s that broke up in 2009 after a fight between him and his brother Liam. In the images, he appears having lunch at a restaurant in Ibiza, Spain, with his wife Sara MacDonald and their son.
When the music started playing in the restaurant people started clapping and singing along. The ex-Oasis singer’s wife laughed at the situation and began to sing, while Gallagher put his hand to his embarrassed face. At the end, he clapped his hands along with the other people who were in the restaurant.
A customer filmed the scene and shared the video on TikTok. The singer’s reaction turned into jokes among netizens. “Can not escape Liam”, commented a user of the social network. “Sarcastic applause at the end,” wrote a netizen. One person commented on the band’s scowling ex-vocalist’s smile: “My God it was that Noel smiling, he wrote and added laughing face emojis.
One fan recalled that the song played at the restaurant was sung by Liam, Noel’s brother with whom he is fighting. “He played a song for him as a tribute and it turns out to be one that his brother [Liam] sang,” the fan wrote and put on laughing emojis. “Sitting with your family and everything happening around you without saying a word! He infected the world with his music. What a legend!” one person commented.
Brothers Noel and Liam, founders of Oasis, haven’t spoken in ten years since they fell out and broke up with the band. This year, Liam told Squire that the band had potential and a lot more work to do. “We shouldn’t have split up, because we could have made more records. It’s a shame.”
