Sandy pays tribute to Olivia Newton-John with song version of ‘Grease’

Singer Sandy, 39, posted a video alongside her brother, Junior, 38, in honor of actress and singer Olivia Newton-John, who passed away this Monday (8), at age 73. The cause of death has not yet been released, however, the artist has been battling cancer in recent years.

“Olivia Newton-John was a great reference in my childhood. In fact, my parents chose my name because of the character Sandy, from the movie ‘Grease'”, she wrote, recalling the 1978 classic starring Newton-John.

Sandy shared a video of the performance of the song “Tô Ligado em Você”, a version of “You’re The One That I Want”, from the soundtrack of the musical film. “Here is an excerpt of a song from the movie that my brother and I recorded in Portuguese on our third album. My eternal affection and admiration for this great artist. May she be in peace”, she added.

The actress and singer was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992. In May 2017, she announced that after 25 years of remission the disease had returned and had spread to her lower back. In 2013, she had still discovered a tumor on her shoulder. Since then, Newton-John has been treated with radiation therapy and medicinal herbs, including the use of cannabis oil.

His love interest in “Grease”, John Travolta used social media to mourn his death. “My dear Olivia, you’ve made all of our lives so much better. Your impact has been incredible. I love you so much. We’ll see you on the road, where we’ll be together again. Your Danny, your John,” wrote the actor, citing his name. your character in the long run.
