Rakim Athelaston Mayers, better known as A$AP Rocky, was indicted on Monday for a shooting in Los Angeles that “could have ended in tragedy”, according to prosecutor George Gascón. Father of singer Rihanna’s son, he is accused of shooting a former friend, whose name has not been revealed.
According to the prosecution, A$AP Rocky fired two shots with a semiautomatic weapon in the direction of the other boy. Police claim this took place after a “heated” argument between the two on November 6, 2021.
The prosecution did not say whether the shots hit anyone. To the police, the former friend said he believed that one of the bullets had grazed his left hand.
Lawyers for A$AP Rocky declined to comment on the allegation. On Wednesday (17), the singer was summoned to give his testimony about what happened.
In April, Rocky was arrested for the alleged shooting. Cops were waiting for him as he disembarked the private jet on which he was returning from Barbados, where he had vacationed with Rihanna. He was released after posting a bond of US$ 550 thousand (R$ 2.8 million at the current exchange rate).
He is also being sued for assault by A$AP Relli, his former partner in the collective A$AP Mob. Relli would be the former friend named by the prosecution.
