New album in autumn from Björk

Two of the album’s tracks are inspired by her mother’s death

H Björk will release a new album, the “Fossora”, this fall. The Icelandic singer confirmed the release of her new album, which will be her 10th full-length, speaking to UK newspaper ‘The Guardian’, revealing that it was partly inspired by the death of her mother, Hildur Rúna Hauksdóttir, who died in 2018.

The songs were written during and after the Covid lockdown, which forced the singer to return to her home country. “I don’t think I’ve been home that long since I was 16,” she said. “I feel guilty and have to admit that I ate chocolate pudding every day“, he added.

Two of the album’s tracks, ‘Sorrowful Soil’ and ‘Ancestress’, are inspired by the death of her mother.

Björk also confirmed that she dug through her music archives to make a podcast series about her discography, which is expected to be released this fall alongside the LP.

The musician’s last full-length album, ‘Utopia’, was released in 2017.
