Shia LaBeouf, 36, has opened up about allegations of physical and verbal abuse by singer FKA Twigs, 34, with whom he has dated in the past. The artist filed a lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend in 2020, which made his career go haywire in Hollywood.
“I hurt this woman,” LaBeouf said on the Real Ones podcast, when asked about the allegations. “And in the process, I hurt many other people, as well as other people before this woman. I was a pleasure-seeking, selfish, self-centered, dishonest, reckless, fearful human being.”
The actor dated the singer for about a year, after they met on the set of the movie “The Price of Talent” (2019). After that period, she accused him of being violent and infecting her with sexually transmitted diseases, and also of shooting dogs during the preparation for the movie “The Tax Collector” (2020).
“I look at this context of the #MeToo movement and I realize there aren’t a lot of guys taking responsibility for themselves,” he said. “I’ve done a lot of shit. A lot. I’ve hurt a lot of people and I’m aware of that. It’s something I’m going to have to carry with me for the rest of my life.”
He also revealed that he cheated on every woman he’s ever been with and that he was “manipulative” by not telling his sex partners when he had herpes. Currently, he said he was at another time in his life and stated, without naming her name, he called FKA Twigs a “saint” and said she saved his life.
“If she hadn’t intervened in my life and created the space for my ego to die, I would have had a mediocre existence or died,” he says. The actor also said that he even thought about taking his own life when the matter came to the public. “I carried a gun and left it on my desk,” he recalled. “I was going to kill myself.”
