Swedish audiences get their own ‘The Crown’ starring King Charles XVI Gustavus (Carl XVI Gustaf). It has been provisionally named Monarchy and the first cycle will consist of six episodes. It will air towards the end of the year as filming has already begun, according to Tatler.

For its part, the royal family has disapproved of the series written by the Swedish author and screenwriter of TV series, Asa Lange.

“The story of our king is different. He didn’t grow up with the world’s attention on him, but his life is just as dramatic and exciting. And completely unknown to many of us,” Lange told Variety.

THE King Charles XVI Gustavus ascended the throne at the age of 27, after the death of his grandfather. He was just seven years old when he learned of his father’s death in a plane crash and has previously spoken about how difficult it was without a father figure.

In 2010 the book “The Reluctant Monarch” brought to light his unknown rich love life with him answering that “it happened many years ago”…
