José Dumont will be replaced by Jackson Antunes in ‘All Flowers’

by

Jackson Antunes, 62, was cast in the role that José Dumont, 72, would play in “All Flowers.” With the replacement defined, Antunes should soon start recording the soap opera, which is scheduled to premiere in October on Globoplay.

Dumont would play the role of Galo, an explorer of minors, in the plot of João Emanuel Carneiro. He had already started recording as the character, who acts directly at the core of the protagonist Zoé, played by Regina Casé, enticing miserable people on the street to send to a human reproduction farm.

Globo removed the actor shortly after the first news emerged that he had been arrested in the act for possessing images of a sexual nature involving children. “In light of the reported facts, Globo made the decision to remove him from the soap opera,” the broadcaster said in a statement.

“The suspicion of pedophilia is serious”, continues the text. “No abusive and criminal behavior is tolerated by the company, even if it occurs in the personal lives of contractors and third parties that have any relationship with it.”

José Dumont was arrested last Thursday (15) by the Civil Police of Rio for the crime of storing sex images involving children. The crime is provided for in article 241-B of the ECA (Child and Adolescent Statute).

Dumont was already the subject of an investigation in an inquiry at the Dcav (Child and Adolescent Victim Police Station), for the crime of rape of a vulnerable person. According to the police, a lawyer accompanied him throughout the procedure at the police station.

From Paraiba, the actor began his professional history in the theater in the 1970s, and at the end of that decade he began a long and award-winning career in cinema. One of his first works was in “Lúcio Flávio, o Passageiro da Agonia” (1977), by Hector Babenco, a classic of national cinema.

His curriculum includes soap operas and series on broadcasters such as Globo, Record and the extinct TV Manchete. The actor’s most recent work on TV was in the soap opera “Nos Tempos do Imperador” (Globo, 2021).
