Adam Levine, 43, opened up about his alleged affair with model Sumner Stroh, 21. She recently revealed that she had an affair with the singer for 1 year, during which time he would have cheated on his wife, Behati Prinsloo, 34.

The Maroon 5 frontman admitted that he spoke with Stroh, but claimed the two never really came to blows. “A lot is being said about me right now and I want to clear everything up,” he said in a statement posted to his social media accounts.

In the sequence, he told his version of what would have happened. “I used bad judgment when talking to anyone other than my wife in any kind of flirtation,” he said. “I didn’t have an affair, however, I crossed the line during an unfortunate period of my life. At times it became inappropriate.”

The musician also said that he is aware of his mistakes and that he is trying to remedy it. “My wife and family are all I care about in this world,” he wrote. “Being so naive and stupid enough to risk the only thing that really matters to me was the biggest mistake I could ever make.”

He ended by implying that he was forgiven by his wife. “I’ll never do that again,” he promised. “I take full responsibility. We will get through this. And we will get through this together.”

Levine and Prisloo met in 2012. The following year, they briefly split, but then announced that they were engaged. They have been married since 2014. The two are parents to Dusty Rose, 5, and Gio Grace, 4, and are awaiting the birth of their third heir.
