To protect the reputation of the current royal couple, Buckingham’s people are quick to remind the world that this is “fiction” and not a documentary.
In turmoil are the King’s people at Buckingham after his announcement Netflix that the much-anticipated season 5 of The Crown will premiere on November 9.
The episodes of season 5 will cover the period in the early 90s – from Charles’ unhappy marriage to Princess Diana’s divorce, focusing of course on the then Prince of Wales and his then lover and scandal rock Camilla Parker Bowles – current royal consort.
In fact, the series will also include the interviews they gave then Charles and Diana.
In the Palace they fear that the series will awaken the memories of that turbulent time that led the institution of the monarchy to its biggest crisis in modern history. Also, there is a serious case that the people will “hate” King Charles and his wife again because of the series.
To protect the reputation of the current royal couple, Buckingham’s people are quick to remind the world that this is “fiction” and not a documentary.
A source close to Charles told the Telegraph that Netflix “would have no qualms about ruining people’s reputations”, describing The Crown as an “exploitation” of the lives of the real royal family.
“What people forget is that there are real human beings and real lives behind it (the series),” he said.

Although already hugely popular with viewers, the death of Queen Elizabeth II has sparked interest in the series.
According to data analytics company Whip Media, the show’s UK viewing figures increased by more than 800% following Queen Elizabeth’s death, compared to the previous Friday-Sunday period.
