71-year-old Rosa Saito from Sao Paulo, belongs to the category of new-age models, and started her career when she was 68 years old, with the aim of helping the fashion industry to “break” the stereotypes of (exclusively) young women in the field of fashion.
Initially she shared that before modeling her only concern was taking care of the people close to her. First her mother, then her husband and when he passed away in 2000, she took care of their three children alone.
Being “committed to someone else” for many years pushed her further to try and give modeling a shot, thinking, “If I don’t try, I’ll never know.”
Now her career has “taken off” as she appears in editorials, advertisements and high fashion photoshoots and has taken part in Sao Paulo Fashion Week.
“I’m still learning and I feel like the more I learn the less I know. Sure time passes but, my God up there in the sky, what is time? If I had to say how old my soul is, I would say 22,” she said.
