Camilla: King Charles’ wife to present Booker Prize 2022

The royal consort will present the award after a reception and dinner at the Roundhouse performing arts and concert venue

Camillawife of the United Kingdom’s King Charles, will be awarded the 2022 Booker Prize for the best novel written in English and published in the United Kingdom or Ireland at a ceremony in north London tonight.

The Buckingham Palace news service announced last week that the royal wife will present the award after a reception and dinner at the Roundhouse performing arts and concert venue. It is the first time that the awards are presented in person, as in previous years restrictive measures were in force due to the new coronavirus pandemic.

This year will be the seventh time the winner will receive the award from Camilla, who has been supporting literacy in the UK for many years by visiting schools and libraries, as well as meeting participants in reading workshops in workplaces and prisons to to be informed about the results of adult literacy programs.

She also published a list of her nine favorite book recommendations during the lockdown, Easter 2020, followed by another five in August.

Following the positive response to her book recommendations, Camilla created the Instagram account ‘The Reading Room’ in January 2021 as an online space for book lovers.
