Can anyone imagine Daniel Craig – after the icon of masculinity, James Bond – playing a gay man? And yet, the character of Craig (Daniel Craig) in the movie “Knives Out” is a member of the LGBTQ community.
Director Rian Johnson and Craig, during a press conference as part of the London Film Festival, revealed that the quirky detective that the actor plays is gay.
In the sequel to the 2019 hit “Knives Out” Daniel Craig reprises his role as detective Benoit Blanc.
According to Insider, a scene in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (the sequel to 2019’s Knives Out) shows Detective Blank living with a man.
When asked during the press conference about the scene and whether Blank is gay, Johnson replied, “Yeah, obviously he is,” the report said. “And there’s no one else in the world that I could imagine could bring me more joy being with Benoit Blanc,” she continued, referring to the actor who will play Daniel Craig’s lover in the film.
“Not a spoiler, but who wouldn’t want to live with that person?” Craig added.
The film was shot in Greece – specifically in Spetses – from June to September 2021, as the new story has the hero on a Greek island to investigate the death of a billionaire.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, will be released on Netflix on December 23rd.
