The image of Livaditis often changes, depending on each season of the year
The impressive Livaditis waterfall it is located on the border of the prefecture of Xanthi with Drama and is considered the largest waterfall in the Balkans in terms of the quantity, but also the volume of running water.
It can be approached from both Drama and Xanthi, via Stavroupoli, from where a route to the village of Livaditis begins, which, at an altitude of 1250 meters, hides the second most traveled path, after that of the Straits of Nestos, in the mountainous region of Xanthi, while with only 8 inhabitants it is the highest village of the entire prefecture.
What if the paved road ends in the village? The continuation is the one that brings the most beautiful images of the Western Rhodopes, as long as the visitor follows a dirt track of 2.2 kilometers, until the starting point of the descent to the monumental Trachoni waterfall, or otherwise Livaditis waterfall.
Of course, the route needs special attention especially during the winter months, where it would be good to avoid doing it with a conventional car, since the ice and also the water troughs can cause serious problems, in contrast always to the summer months when the visitor can undisturbed to enjoy the same course in nature.
