Liraz Charhi: An unruly rebel who turns everything she touches into “gold”

In light of the protests over the death of Mahsa Amini, the star of “Tehran” managed the impossible: To unite Israel and Iran, through an artistic creation that calls for peace

Actress, singer, dancer. She stood out for her performance in ‘Tehran’ which attracted worldwide attention. She rocked the entire planet with her new record, in which she teamed up with her country’s biggest enemy to deliver a powerful message. She was born in Ramla, Israel and at the age of 44 she has already lived a fictional life. Her relationship with acting and singing when she is only 5 years old. In it, her aunt, the famous Israeli actress and singer Rita, will play a role.

She would make her theatrical debut at the Habima National Theater at the age of 11, and would later find herself serving in the military band of the Israel Defense Forces’ Training and Youth Corps.

And this, because in the creation of the record, Iranian musicians collaborated, whose names remain unknown, in order to protect their safety. The creators from the two conflicting countries had to travel to Turkey, where they met in extreme secrecy, for this record with deep meanings to be “born”.

“I’ve been waiting my whole life to meet my friends and family from Iran, the fact that you weren’t afraid and were brave is…wow,” Charhi said, welcoming the Iranian musicians.

“Thank you for being our voice.”

“I love your songs and I hope one day you will sing in beautiful Tehran.”
