Steven Spielberg seems to have found a leading man for his next film. Sources report exclusively to “Deadline” that the Bradley Cooper signed on to play tough San Francisco cop Frank Bullitt, the iconic character played by Steve McQueen in the 1968 film of the same name.
THE Cooper will also produce the film alongside Spielberg and his collaborator Christy Makosko Krieger.
Sources unequivocally state that this is not a remake of the original 1968 film but a new concept centered on the character played by Steve McQueen. Considered one of the actor’s most iconic roles, the film features one of the most famous car chase scenes in film history. The screenplay will be by Josh Singer.
Cooper is currently in post-production on the film Maestro, which he also co-wrote, directed, produced and stars alongside Carey Mulligan. The film will premiere in 2023.
