The two-minute trailer for James Cameron’s long-awaited sequel to Avatar: The Way of Water has been released and it’s impressive.
It’s been 13 years since the first movie hit theaters, and roughly the same amount of time has passed since the screenplays. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña return to their roles as Jake and Neytiri and live with their family who have grown up in new underwater worlds on the idyllic planet of Pandora, according to EW. With them return: Joel David Moore (Joel David Moore), Stephen Lang (Stephen Lang) and Sigourney Weaver (Sigourney Weaver) who takes on a new role. Kate Winslet (Kate Winslet), Edie Falco (Edie Falco) and Vin Diesel (Vin Diesel) are among others the new protagonists in the film.
“Avatar: The Way of Water” is the first of four planned sequels to the 2009 blockbuster, with the other three slated for release in 2024, 2026 and 2028, respectively, though the legendary director has hinted in an interview with ‘Empire’ that he may not direct the final two films in the series.
The film hits theaters on December 16. Watch the trailer:
