The EBU has made significant changes to the voting method of the Eurovision contest.
The changes mainly concern the abolition of judging panels in the two semi-finals and will take effect immediately, from the 2023 competition in Britain
More specifically:
– The vote of the TV audience will solely decide which countries will advance from the semi-final nights
– Viewers in non-participating countries will be able to vote online
– Jury votes will be combined with votes from the global audience to decide the final winner.
In 2023, the countries that advance from the semi-finals will be decided solely on the basis of viewer votes, and not by a combination of jury and public vote, as has been the case since 2009.
The country juries will only vote on the night of the Grand Final.
Also, for the first time, viewers from non-participating countries will be able to vote for their favorite entries.
The 67th Eurovision Song Contest 2023 will be held in Liverpool, United Kingdom, after the 2022 host country, Ukraine, cannot host the event due to war.
