For weddings and celebrations, the Greek islands are becoming a destination

Their place on the British map of wedding tourism destinations is secured by Tinos, Milos, Elafonissos and Paros with the highly successful promotional activity organized last Thursday afternoon at the embassy residence in London, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Tourism Sofia Zaharakis and a large number of journalists and representatives of specialized travel agencies.

The presentations were made by the Mayor of Tinos Yannis Siotsthe Mayor of Elafonisos Efi Liarou, the Mayor and the President of the Tourist Board of Milos Manos Mikeli and Averkios Gaitani, while due to the sudden absence of the representative of Paros, the presentation was made by the Director of the EOT Office of the United Kingdom and Ireland Eleni Skarveli who together with her colleagues undertook the organization of the event in collaboration with the consulting company of the four Municipalities MTC GROUP.

This was followed by meetings between the representatives of the destinations and the guests who were offered souvenir sweets and gifts, according to what each place usually offers at a wedding ceremony. The Deputy Minister of Tourism, the Ambassador Mr. Ioannis Raptakis and Mrs. Skarveli on behalf of the EOT introduced the event and referred to the importance of wedding tourism in the tourism promotion of Greece, and then the presentations of the destinations were made which focused on the possibilities they offer for the wedding ceremony whether it is of a religious or political nature, the renewal of vows and also the wedding trips.

This specific promotional action was planned in time and was the culmination of contacts that had preceded during the World Travel Market exhibition in London, where emphasis was also placed on the alternative possibilities offered by each destination both for the quality upgrade and the extension of the tourist season . With the aim of maximizing the overall result, the presentations in power point format will be distributed to those invited, given the technocratic nature with which they were prepared, by the EOT office of the United Kingdom and Ireland.

The emphasis placed on this particular form of tourism was not a random choice. Over the course of the year, Paros was ranked among the best honeymoon destinations, according to travel website The Points Guy, which published a list of 11 places ideal for newlyweds to visit. This was an important distinction as along with Paros and Santorini, the list included the Maldives, Hawaii and other exotic destinations.
