Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic takes home Best Picture, Best Director and nine other awards
The film ‘Elvis’ dominated the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) awards ceremony.
The Elvis Presley biopic directed by Baz Luhrmann took home the awards for Best Picture and Best Director and nine other awards.
The film also claimed (and won) Best Actor for Austin Butler’s performance as Elvis Presley and Best Supporting Actress for Olivia De Jong.

Actor Chris Hemsworth has been presented with a Pioneer Award which recognizes the achievements, skills and success of an Australian film professional who inspires others in the industry.
Hemsworth was honored for his outstanding career as well as his contribution to the Australian film industry.

Accepting the award from AACTA president Russell Crowe, Chris Hemsworth said: “I cannot take the opportunities the Australian film industry has given me for granted and I am excited and proud that the rest of the world is discovering how great it is to make world-class films with incredible crews and representatives of creative arts. I feel like we’re all just getting started.”
