Daiana Garbin says goodbye to 2022 and reflects on Lua’s cancer treatment: ‘A very difficult year’

by

In the last week of 2022, the journalist Daiana Garbin decided to share with her followers an outburst about the year that passed due to the health of her daughter Lua. Presenter Tiago Leifert’s wife did not hide the difficult period the family went through due to the girl’s treatment against retinoblastoma (a rare type of eye cancer), a disease discovered a year ago.

“It is with that smile that I say goodbye to 2022, a very difficult year, but one that also had many magical moments with my Lua. We continue with the treatment and with each chemotherapy session, each exam, she teaches me about being strong, courageous, happy and resilient. Curious how such a small child, who still doesn’t even know the meaning of these words, can teach so much!”, Daiana began.

“I want to thank you for your love, messages and prayers. I wish you a blessed new year, with lots of health, love, happiness and wisdom to deal with difficult times. Starting today, I’m going to take a vacation. Switch off, breathe. In the next few months I’ll I’ll be back with news. We continue with faith, with the certainty and serenity that God is with us in every step of this journey”, he added.

Lua was born in October 2020 and was diagnosed with retinoblastoma in September last year, when she was 11 months old. In an interview with the podcast “Cara a Tapa”, Tiago assumed that his daughter’s illness made him less anxious. “What [a situação] taught me was [a respeito de] anxiety. She was a much more anxious person, and cancer is a ‘master class’ in calm. Because you don’t see anything beyond a month. And the doctors tell you that, day by day, exam by exam”, recalled the former presenter of ‘BBB’.

Leifert also added that, despite all the trouble, nothing has shaken his spiritual convictions. “I believe in God much more now. I have a ‘monster’ faith in my daughter’s healing. Everyone has a rock to carry. This is mine.”, he concluded.
