Actor Jeremy Renner, 51, known for playing Hawkeye in “The Avengers”, shared this Tuesday (3) on Instagram the first photo in the hospital after the serious accident he suffered on New Year’s Day. He was hit by a snowplow and was taken in serious condition by air ambulance to a local hospital, where he remains in hospital.
In the image, he appears lying in a hospital bed breathing with the help of oxygen. “Thank you all for the kind words. I’m confused right now to type. But I send love to everyone”, says the caption of the post on the social network.
Several celebrities commented on the actor’s post and wished for a speedy recovery. “Fast recovery buddy. Sending love your way!” wrote actor Chris Hemsworth. “Continuous prayers your way,” commented actor Chris Pratt. “Rapid recovery,” said model and presenter Heidi Klum.
Prior to Renner’s Instagram post, actors Mark Ruffalo and Cris Evans used social media to ask for prayers for the actor. “Prayers for our brother Jeremy Renner for a full and speedy recovery. Please send him good vibes,” Ruffalo wrote in his Instagram stories.
Evans shared a photo with the actor on Instagram. “Jeremy Renner remains in intensive care in critical but stable condition after undergoing surgery for chest trauma and orthopedic injuries. Praying for a speedy recovery,” he wrote in the photo’s caption.
The actor’s rep told People he suffered chest trauma and orthopedic injuries after being hit by a snowplow at his home in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. He was the only victim of the accident.
The actor had a serious injury to one of his legs that caused massive blood loss, but a neighboring doctor managed to put a tourniquet on until paramedics arrived. He was taken by air ambulance to a hospital.
A source tells TMZ that the actor’s injuries are extensive to his leg and other parts of his body. He was alone at the time of the accident and was trying to fight his way out of his house after a heavy snowstorm on New Year’s Eve.
According to Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve, the actor stopped what he was doing to help a driver with a stranded car and ended up being hit by a snowplow. “He was helping someone stuck in the snow. He’s always helping others,’ he said.
A rep for Renner said the family is in the hospital with the actor and he is receiving excellent care. Family members thanked firefighters, rescuers, doctors, nurses who cared for the star and fans for their love and support.
The Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the case. The sheriff’s office said the actor was the only one involved in the incident.
