Pelé’s ex-wife, Assíria Seixas pays homage to the king: ‘Generous heart’

by

Gospel singer Assíria Seixas, 62, who was married to Pelé for 14 years, used social media to pay tribute to the king of football, who died on December 29. Mother of two children of the former player, Joshua and Celeste, she posted a video on Instagram praising the behavior of the star outside the spotlight.

In the video, Assíria said that his tribute was to Edson Arantes do Nascimento, with whom he had two children and who helped raise his first-born daughter Gemima, from a previous relationship. “[Gemima] she was the daughter of his heart. He loved and raised with all his heart like the other two children”, said the singer about her ex-husband’s relationship with her daughter, who was next to the king in the hospital.

She said that, despite all the trips and commitments, Pelé tried his best to be present at important family moments, such as birthdays, school and events that she attended. According to his ex-wife, the king was a good son who honored his parents, an excellent brother and friend. “He always had a very generous and giving heart in every way.”

Assíria said that the king loved to tell jokes and that the two sang many songs together – one of Pelé’s passions, who recorded a CD, composed songs and sang with famous artists. “We recorded two songs together on one of my CDs, in Portuguese and Spanish.”

The gospel singer also said that, despite the longing and pain for the loss of Pelé, she and her children are comforted by the king’s death because they are sure that one day they will be together. “It’s not goodbye, we’ll meet him one day. Thank you, Edson, for everything you were for me and for our children. See you later”, says Assíria.
