Even those dissatisfied with the young prince, rushed to buy his book, to learn first hand the “unwashed” of the royal family
Although Prince Harry’s popularity has been dented by his “betrayal” of his family with the personal revelations he made, it still appears that – even those unhappy with the young prince – rushed to buy his autobiography to find out first hand the “unwashed” of the royal family.
According to the publishing house of “Spare” (The Reserve in Greek), the memoirs of Prince Harry experienced a jump in sales, exceeding 1.4 million copies on the first day of release of the English version.
According to Penguin Random House, sales of the book – even in digital or audio book format – in the UK, US and Canada are unprecedented for a book of this type.
“Spare” sold more than 1.43 million copies in all formats in the US, Canada and Britain, including pre-orders, according to its publisher. The figure marked the largest first-day sales for any nonfiction book ever published by Penguin Random House. https://t.co/vWs7mJnU3G

In fact, the 1.4 million does not include sales of the book in its translations, which have been released in 15 languages.
Unprecedented sales – low popularity
The book was released on Tuesday, four months after the death of Queen Elizabeth II and four months before the coronation of Charles III,’ and is largely Prince Harry’s clearing of personal accounts with members of his family.
“No one comes out unscathed: not himself, not his father Charles and his brother William, who receives the most attacks, not his stepmother Camilla and not his daughter-in-law Kate” writes the AFP.
Buckingham Palace has remained silent on the allegations for now, while the press is talking about the Windsors’ displeasure, citing unnamed sources.
Despite the book’s strong sales, Prince Harry’s popularity has taken a hit in the UK, where he is described as a spoiled brat who seeks the perks of his role without the trappings.
Only 26% of Britons hold a favorable opinion of the Duke of Sussex, according to a YouGov survey in early January, down from 34% in December.
Even young people, who generally had more positive opinions of him, are now divided with 41% positive and 41% negative.
